About 36,000 runner are expected to appear at Maskal Square on Sunday for the 2011 Great Ethiopian Run in Addis Ababa, capital of Ethiopia. The mass run in Ethiopia started in 2001 with about 10 thousand participants with the increasing of the number of participants from time to time.

During a press briefing at Hilton International Hotel, Dagmawit Amare, member of the Organizing Body, said that preparation is going on to hold the 11th edition of the Great Run in the country which is preceded by Children's Run on Saturday.

36,000 Participants to Flood in Ethiopia for Mass Run The Commercial Bank of Ethiopia is the title sponsor of the 2011 Great Run in Ethiopia.

The number of participants in the mass run here in the country is increasing from time to time and running has become a fashion in Ethiopia, said Halie Gebre-Selassie, Ethiopian famous athlete and founder of the mass run in the country.

About 35 thousand participants took part in the 10th edition of the great run last year.

Ethiopians and foreigners including ambassadors of different countries participate in the 10km road race which is full of fun every year here in the country.
