Ethiopian Airlines plans to establish new carrier in Central Africa Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – The management of Ethiopian Airlines is planning to establish a new African carrier, which will serve south and central Africa, a senior executive of the airline told the English weekly The Reporter.

The executive said that the airline anticipates attracting potential investors such as South African Airways and Egypt Air, who would invest in the planned airline. However, the detail work plans have yet to be developed, the official confirmed.

'Huge' water resource exists under Africa Now scientists have for the first time been able to carry out a continent-wide analysis of the water that is hidden under the surface in aquifers. Researchers from the British Geological Survey and University College London (UCL) have mapped in detail the amount and potential yield of this groundwater resource across the continent.

Helen Bonsor from the BGS is one of the authors of the paper. She says that up until now groundwater was out of sight and out of mind. She hopes the new maps will open people's eyes to the potential.

Prime Minister Meles Zenawi said regions of Somalia currently controlled by Ethiopian forces will be handed over to troops from Burundi, Kenya, Djibouti and Rwanda. The first three countries have troops in Somalia as part of the African Union peacekeeping force. Rwanda does not currently have troops in Somalia.
