Individuals Responsible For Bomb Attack in Oromia Put Under Control: Police

Addis Ababa, May 8, 2010 (Addis Ababa) - The Command Post of the Oromia Police Commission said individuals who threw a hand grenade and killed and injured innocent civilians were put under control.

The Command Post said in a statement on Friday that the individuals had thrown the grenade in a stadium in Adaba Town of West Arssi Zone while townspeople were celebrating the 20th founding anniversary of the OPDO killed two persons and inflicted heavy and minor injuries on 17 others.

It said the individuals who committed the crime were put under control by the security forces in the area and residents of the town

The Command Post said one of the individuals known by the name of Tadesse Haile Mekonnen was caught on the spot while his two accomplices were put under control by security forces.

The case of the individuals is under investigation, according to the Command Post.

The statement said the Oromia Police Commission has been safeguarding the peace and security of the state.

It further said the Commission has made adequate preparation to enable the 4th national elections be held with out any problem.

The statement said the people in the state have been cooperating with the police and security forces to get the 4th national elections held peacefully and smoothly.

It also said the State Police Commission is determined to bring the terrorists responsible for the bomb attack to the court of justice.
