TPLF Calls Forum/Arena To Stop Defamatory Statements

by ENA

TPLF/EPRDF called Arena/Forum to refrain from tarnishing the image of the 4th national elections.

In a statement it issued here on Saturday by TPLF Central Committee, TPLF said Arena/Forum is engaged in tarnishing the election with an intention of not to make the election credible.

The statement said Forum’s allegation that a candidate from Arena known by the name of Aregawi Gebre-yohannes was murdered was absolutely fabricated.

According to the statement, the allegation was intended to tarnish the image of the election.

The statement said the investigation carried out by the Ethiopian Human Rights Commission confirmed that the death of the candidate was not related to either politics or elections.

The statement said inspite of this reality, Forum/Arena has continued its defamatory statements about TPLF/EPRDF.

Forum/Arena was repeatedly told to respect the election code of conduct governing political parties, but to no avail.

The party has also refused the repeated call made by the electoral board and TPLF to jointly investigate the stated allegation.

Forum/Arena has also been engaged in other defamatory statements.

TPLF called on Forum/Arena to stop its defamatory statements and abide by the election code of conduct.
