Ethiopia: Woman Caught With A Yemeni Man for Trading "Khat"

Do u know that The effects are weaker than cocaine or methamphetamine. But khat can still trigger paranoia and hallucinations, and may even lead to mouth cancer. Khat is legal in Britain but banned in Europe, America and Canada.
But also according to a news from Arab Times of Kuwait, recently women arrested by DGDC for trading "Khat" , The Officials of the Directorate General for Drug Control (DGDC) also arrested a Yemeni Citizen together with the Ethiopian Women. DGDC says it recovered more than six kilos of the banned substance from them.
According to Sources the department received information that a Yemeni driver in his 30s was selling Qat to his compatriots. A team was then formed to track the movements of the suspect and after three days, it arrested him in Hawalli, Kuwait. Officials recovered one kilo of Qat from the suspect’s vehicle and five more kilos from his house.
The Yemeni told securitymen that an Ethiopian woman supplies him the substance, following which securitymen raided the woman’s house and seized an undisclosed quantity of Qat from her. During interrogations, the woman said an Ethiopian man supplies Qat to her and that he is presently not in the country.
Qat contains the alkaloid called cathinone, an amphetamine-like stimulant which is said to cause excitement, loss of appetite and euphoria. In 1980 the World Health Organization classified qat as a drug of abuse that can produce mild to moderate psychological dependence. The plant has been targeted by anti-drug organizations like the DEA. It is a controlled or illegal substance in many countries, but is legal for sale and production in many others.
