Ethiopia, Japan sign over $80 million grant accord
   
 
 
   
 
APA-Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) Ethiopia and Japan on Thursday signed in Addis Ababa a grant agreement of around $ 81 million to support on going construction programs in Ethiopia.


Ethiopia, Japan sign over $80 million grant accord The grant will be utilized for the rehabilitation of the trunk road- phase IV from Dejene to Debre Markos, in the northern part of Ethiopia, and replacement of Awash Bridge on the A1 trunk road and construction of schools in Amhara regional state, according to the agreement.


The Ethiopian Minister of Finance and Economic Development, Sufian Ahmed, and the Japanese ambassador to Ethiopia, Hiroyuki Kishinn signed the agreement on behalf of their respective countries.


“The agreement that we signed today would have an important contribution towards improving the socio-economic development of Ethiopia,” Sufian said.


Ambassador Hiroyuki Kishinn, on his part said that his country will remain committed to assist Ethiopia’s education and road sector development programs.


Japan is Ethiopia’s top development partner, which is supporting on-going development activities, by investing over $ 200 million annually.
