A moderate but shallow and accordingly dangerous earthquake occurred near Yirgalem, Ethiopia. Ethiopia is located in the Rift valley, where 2 tectonic plates are spreading. Some parts of the spreading goes along with friction which results in earthquakes. A couple of months ago, a similar earthquake resulted in cracks in houses and some broken glass windows.
