EAL Beirut Mishap Report Expected Soon

By Gubae Gundarta

The investigation efforts getting to the bottom of the plane crash of Ethiopian Airlines, Boeing 737-800 homeward bound from Beirut, Lebanon, over the Mediterranean Sea last year is expected to be issued this week.

While the investigation team arrived in Ethiopia the day before yesterday, the report is anticipated to come out any time soon whereupon the Lebanese Ministry of Labor and Transport would follow with its own version afterwards.

Many have been commenting on what might have caused the tragedy. Media personalities such as Patrick Galley, owner of Daily Star, were of the opinion that bad weather might have brought about the accident while others said technical glitches could be at the bottom of it all.

The team has undertaken the inspection with hypotheses that bad weather, technical problem or military attack could be the possible cause. A BBC report indicated earlier that the team was having difficulties in the scrutiny process owing to lack of coordination from the Lebanese officials in Beirut.

Members of the investigation were said to have been denied access to information captured by security cameras and other related documents by the officials even though these constitute the extremely desirable array of information resources in order to come up with bona fide outcomes.

Analysts said the report wouldn’t be complete and genuine without access to the above records.
