Meles confers with leaders, members of ONLF

Prime Minister Meles Zenawi received and held talks with leaders and members of the Ogaden National Liberation Front (ONLF) on Thursday. The decision of ONLF to opt for peace is most welcome, Meles told the ONLF members.

He said he is happy that members of the front gave up the path of conflict and chaos and resorted to peaceful struggle. Meles also conveyed the readiness of the Ethiopian government to work together with members of the front on the common issue of national and regional development.

ONLF president, Eng. Salhadin Abdurahim Mao, on behalf of his delegation, extended gratefulness to both the federal and regional governments for welcoming members of the front. He also expressed the commitment of the members to stand by the government in the ongoing national and regional development endeavors. It is to be recalled that ONLF concluded a peace deal with the government of Ethiopia on Tuesday.
