One of the four ETOC’s delegates who traveled from Addis to America passed away

Abune Paulose "Cancelled" his fasting program in Dire Dewa

It is reported that Megabie Belewyee Seife Selassie Yohanes, one of the four negotiators in the recent Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahido Church held in Washington DC area passed away following his return from the negotiation.



According to Deje Selam one of EOTC's popular websites on August 7 2010 following the delegates arrival in the Addis Ababa Bole International air port the late Megabie Seife Selasie told members of the delegates that he had got some unusual and unpleasant feeling on his head and a heart attack as well. Then he was taken to Children and Mothers Hospital previously known as Good Shpred Clinic (around Arat killo area) for emergency treatments. While he was getting first aid it was pronounced that he is dead. Then his body was taken to St. Gabriel and Menelik Hospitals for further investigations. It is also said that His Holiness Abune Paulose Patriarch of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahido Church also "cancelled " his fasting program where he temporarily based in Dire Dawa (for fasting and because of his health matter ). He joined the families of the late Seife Selassie He(Abba paulose ) also persuaded the families to bury their beloved one in the Trinity Cathedral Church rather than in the Kechinee Medhanialmee Church where Megabie Sife Selassie served. His body rest in peace in the Trinity Cathedral on last Monday following his death different rumors were heard including poisoned by individuals. However, his Holiness Abune Gerimma head of the delegates from Addiss undermines such speculation. In his opinion it seems a natural cause.


A "closed door" negotiations held on August 2, 2010 in Hilton Hotel in Virginia America between Holy Synod delegates from Addiss Ababa (under Abune Paulose Administration) and Holy Synod delegates (under Abune Markoriose Administration in America ). One closed sources to the matter told this writer that the Holy Synod delegates didn't inform very important fathers in America namely Abune Ewostatewos, Abune Zekariase and Abune Abraham. "It has created a shocked among fathers " the sources said. It is also said that the late Megabie Seife Selsie confronted with some of the Holy Synod members resided in America. Thousands of EOTc's worshipers were expecting breaking news from the meeting. Eventually, it is said that the negotiation failed.
