With the green motto “Beauty is the reflection of our environment”, Miss Green Hawasa will be crowned today at the newly inaugurated Haile Resort. sixteen contenders from different colleges and the University in Hawasa will take part in the pageant that is organized by Green Image For Ethiopia Inventive, Paint, Fashion, Design and Modeling Center. Composition Training, Promotion, Business Consultancy (Copa Green) is the co-organizer of the event. This year’s beauty pageant will be different in its criteria which require the contenders’ knowledge on environmental protection. And as opposed to many competitions which are overwhelmed with beauty, yet lacks a bit of the brain. This time, a few of the contenders are graduates of universities and there are also contenders with two degrees.

Partly the aim of the competition is to show that we need to recycle and re-use the waste. A recycled fashion show will be staged on the day to promote this message. A painting exhibition that shows the impacts of pollution will also be exhibited along with a research paper that shows pollution concerns on the beautiful Hawasa Lake. The show will also be accompanied by Jazz music. Judging the beauty pageant will be selected judges that have experience working on the environment and modeling.

The show will crown Miss Green Hawasa, and the first runner-up Miss Environment, and Second Runner-up Miss Climate consecutively. The organizers also stated that they have future plans to organize such shows in Addis Ababa and different regions of Ethiopia.
