International Film Festival Commences in Ethiopia

International Film Festival Commences in Addis

An association known as Images That Matter launches an international festival of short films in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in Addis Ababa, June 14, 2010.

It was said that about one hundred movies from around the world would be shown to attendants till 19 June for five days.

In addition to the film shows, about nine distinct workshops were also planned to be held. According to director of the festival, Majida Abdi, buses that would carry students to the venue of the event had been arranged ahead of time to enable participation of secondary schools in the capital.

International Film Festival Commences in Ethiopia

Desert Flower, a film in which the Ethiopian supermodel Liya Kebede plays a major character would be among those movies to be put on. The film is based on the true story of a renowned Somali model, Waris Dirie.

Waris Dirie was due to be in attendance at the festival.
