'Ethiopian Culture Night'

Explore Ethiopia through a night of art and culture at the Northwest African American Museum. Historian Alula Wasse will give a lecture about the relationship between Ethiopians and African Americans. Take a stroll through the new art exhibit "A New African American Experience" that will run through Oct. 3. 5-8 p.m. Saturday, 2300 S. Russian wedding and folk songs: Juliana and PAVA, a local vocal ensemble, will perform traditional polyphonic Russian folk and wedding songs at the Central Library Saturday. The ensemble, dressed in authentic costumes, will be accompanied by Russian instruments such as the kalyuka and balalaika. 2-3:30 p.m., 1000 Fourth Ave., Seattle; free (206-386-4636 or www.spl.org).

Shahrazad Dance Ensemble: With colorful costumes the lively Shahrazad Dance Ensemble presents an afternoon of Middle Eastern folkloric dances from the Levant, Egypt, North Africa and the Persian Gulf. 1-4 p.m. Saturday, Third Place Commons, 17171 Bothell Way N.E., Lake Forest Park; free (206-366-3302 or www.thirdplacecommons.org).

Free Family Day at the Wing Luke: Spend Saturday at the Wing Luke Asian Museum for free and enjoy a Family Day activity. Calligrapher Chiyo Sanada will teach the art of calligraphy by helping participants make Japanese calligraphy cards. 1-3 p.m. Saturday, 719 S.
