Cherinet Woldegebreal opens art Exhibition at Allia
   
 
 
   
 
A painting exhibition entitled, “Quine,” was launched by cherinet Woldegebreal last Wednesday, at the gallery of Alliance Ethio-Française.

Quine - kin womenfes kidus, means “belongs to trinity” - is referred to as an ancient Ethiopian religious poetic art of expression. The words in Quine has two meanings: as sem (wax) and work (gold). The wax is the meaning that is identified right away while the gold is the hidden meaning. “Quine has different genres and styles that have been passed on for generations. The forms of this artistic expression involve logic and philosophy. And the thematic expressions have inspired me a lot,” said Cherinet.

Cherinet Woldegebreal opens art Exhibition at AlliaCherinet, 36, born in Addis Ababa, graduated from the Addis Ababa Fine Arts & Design University in 2004. He has presented his works in solo exhibitions at different galleries over the past 10 years.

In the current exhibition, that will stay open for six days, there are 36 artistic works on show. Cherinet’s craftsmanship has merely given a picture of different styles and techniques from abstract paintings to metaphorical impression.

In addition to that, followed by the exhibition on Thursday 5th May, Cherinet, also recited his poems with Melekt Band. At the event called “Jazz and Poem,” the band performed jazz music.

“Poetry and music are an overflow of emotions,” Cherinet says on why he chose to present his art cajoled with music.

“In this juncture, the combination of poetry and music as a universal language helps me to demonstrate my feelings as well as to trace the roots of my own culture,” concluded Chernet.
