Facebook is a social networking website launched in February 2004 that is operated and privately owned by Facebook, Inc., with more than 500 million active users in July 2010. Facebook allows anyone who declares themselves to be aged 13 or older to become a member of the webs.

Facebook was founded by Mark Zuckerberg, currently 26 years old, with his college roommates and fellow computer science students. The website's membership was initially limited by the founders to Harvard students, but was expanded to other colleges in the Boston area, the Ivy League, and Stanford University. It gradually added support for students at various other universities before opening to high school students, and, finally, to anyone (including us) aged 13 and over.

………..and 109th Facebook users out of 187 countries are Ethiopians.

According to July 2010 records; 133,540 Ethiopians are available at facebook social networking web. Out of which more than 32% of them are female users. Besides, a lot of Ethiopian owned business firms and known people are linked at this web. Sara Nuru is one of them, whose number of fans boom among Ethiopian celebrities. According to Web browsers statistics of facebakers June/July 2010 record, Ethiopians registration during the last month was a peak one; more than 100,000 Ethiopians are registered during this (one month) period. The possible cause for this growth is Ethiopian schools and colleges closedown for summer vacation. And, thus students spend most of their time at Facebook. (baking faces at FB)

109th Facebook users out of 187 countries are EthiopiansGroup Scam is one the difficulty any user faces at facebook. As an Example, “Singles in Ethiopia” may include; names like Nicolas, Trenton, Ricky, Hunter and etc ;(scam names). Ethiopians don’t have such names. Other form of scam is a group like “Strong Ethiopians”. First of all, the name itself is a scam. Who is the strongest Ethiopian? Which known organization can label Ethiopians as a weak or strong? Further more, this groups claim that Jesus Christ, the messiah was Ethiopian, not a Jew. Protecting yourself from the scams should be the basic principles you should follow as long as you want to stay as a Facebooker (facebakery) ( baking your face at FB).

Here's five tips to protect yourself from scams:

* If you don't know the sender – don't open it! Booby-trapped attachments are often disguised in clever thank you notes or e-greetings.

* Watch out for emails that request personal information. No legitimate organization will ask for your social security number.

* Be careful with e-mails that look like they are from PayPal, Facebook, or other popular sites. Often these emails are linked to a third-party site that make them look official, but are actually run by thieves or scammers. Instead, just type the Web site's address directly into your browser.

* Watch for typos or spelling mistakes. Scam artists are street smart, but many have flunked basic grammar. If the email has multiple typos or grammatical errors, odds are it's not real.

* Watch for red-flag phrases, like "You have won!" or "Verify your account." Genuine firms never send e-mails like that.

Not to mention that: Bill Gates said (before rejoining back to FB) he was forced to give up on the social networking phenomenon, because he found them as waste of time.
