Oil consumption increasing in Ethiopia

Ethiopia’s oil consumption has been increasing from year to year because of the rapid economic growth being registered in the country, the Ethiopian Petroleum Enterprise said. Public Relation Officer with the Enterprise, Damenu Kebret said on Monday that 195 fuel tanker trucks enter the country daily carrying 45,000 litres oil each.

Oil consumption increasing in EthiopiaDamenu said Ethiopia imports fuel from Sudan and Djibouti.

He said the country imported nearly 1.8 million metric tones of oil during the last 11 months.

Damenu said the amount exceeded by 7.4 percent that of same time last year.

He said the enterprise had spent 16.4 billion birr on purchasing fuel during the reported 11 months alone.
