In his book Freedom and Justice in Ethiopia, Siye talks about his trial

In his book Freedom and Justice in Ethiopia, former Minister of Defense and ex-rebel Siye Abrha reveals in detail how he was treated at the court and ended up in the Central Police Prison, commonly known as Maekelawi. It almost sounds like fiction, when you read about how he ended up in jail in 2001, together with his comrade in arms, the Special Force Commander who has been by his side for many years but betrayed him.

APA-Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) Ethiopia announced on Tuesday plans to generate around $6.6 billion from export of agricultural products in the next five years. The Ethiopian Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development said that various activities are being carried out to achieve the target by 2015.

Ethiopia Devaluates its Currency by 20 Percent, from 13.62 to 16.35

The National Bank of Ethiopia (NBE) announced today that it has devaluated the national currency of the country (birr) against major international currencies by about 20 percent. One US dollar which was equivalent to 13.62 birr will be exchanged at 16.35 Ethiopian birr as of today (September 1, 2010). The measure taken by NBE is expected to make import expensive and result in increasing prices of imported goods.
